Description of the Project: The project includes the engineering, procurement, and construction of extensions to Doha West STW together with refurbishment of the existing works to enable it to serve a population equivalent of 500,000 (135,000m3/d). A 10-year operation and maintenance contract forms a separate component within the overall project.
Scope of Work:
  • A new inlet works including incoming mains, reception chamber, screening, grit removal and odour control.
  • Demolition of the existing inlet works.
  • New aeration tanks and associated secondary settlement tanks to achieve nutrient removal.
  • Upgrading of the existing aeration plant and secondary settlement tanks to achieve nutrient removal.
  • Microfiltration tertiary treatment plant.
  • Disinfection.
  • Sludge thickening plant.
  • Aerobic sludge digestion plant.
  • Sludge de-watering.
  • Improved septage tanker reception facilities.
  • Storm tanks.
  • Additional power supplies including transformers and standby generation.
  • Refurbishment and upgrading of existing facilities.
  • Landscaping and site works.
  • Emergency lagoons.
  • Operation and Maintenance of the Works for 10 years after issue of the taking over Certificate
