Description of the Project: The project is part of the expansion program for Greater Kandy with the objective of increasing the quantity of potable water in the Kandy Municipal Council and surrounding Pradeshiya Sabah areas. The project envisages the construction of 15 service reservoir, 5 pumping stations, procurement and installation of 11 pumping sets, construction of backwash recovery facility, 12 staff quarters, procurement and laying of 26.4 km transmission main (including Ampitiya gravity line & Rajapihilla Mw main), 105.1 km distribution lines, procurement and laying of 200 km long 63 mm PVC pipelines to prevent NRW, implement NRW reduction program, procure laboratory equipment & vehicles.
Scope of Work: ECL consultants reviewed designs including critical analysis of designs, specifications and documents already prepared, prepared detailed designs of balance work, assisting to pre-qualify contractors, provided tendering assistance to Client. ECL will also carry out construction supervision & contract administration including implementing quality assurance and quality control procedures, assessing contractor’s quality plan, construction safety plans, scheduling & progress monitoring, financial control comprising reviewing & evaluating contractor’s payment requests, preparation of VOs, and extra work orders, assisting Client to resolve claims disputes, prepare final accounts, prepare progress payment & final payment certificate, facility testing & commissioning, prepare O & manuals.
