Description of the Project: In keeping with the World Bank’s environment safeguard policy, Environmental Assessment studies are being carried out prior to the commencement of rehabilitation works for the 6 dams.
Scope of Work: ECL consultants engaged in identifying and evaluating potential environmental impacts that may arise as a result of the proposed rehabilitation interventions to the natural environment, archaeological sites, livelihoods of those using water from the reservoirs for cultivation and domestic purposes and will recommend appropriate mitigation measures to avoid, minimize, remedy or compensate for the predicted negative impacts and provide site specific Environment Management Plans giving adequate project options in terms of mitigation measures, project alternatives and monitoring programs to achieve overall environmental sustainability of the project.
